Heart surgery may cause depression

Depression may lead to heart disease is a previous conception but here is a new one that heart surgery may lead to depression. The Journal of the American Medical Association has published a report that reveals the connection of cardiac surgery to depression. Dr. Mary A. Whooley has disclosed that twenty percent people having coronary heart disease also suffer from a major depressive disorder. However, this is not confirmed that treating depression may improve heart problems or not the anti depression drugs improves the life easing depression. Dr. Michael Fiocco, of Baltimore’s Union Memorial Hospital quoted that almost fifty percent of the cardiac patients show the tendency to develop depression after surgery. The use of heart and lung machines may stimulate and increase the depression attitude. Because it may say that the balanced blood pressure provided by the machine lacks the vibration and beating of a real pulse. The medication process may slow down the energy level in patients.

Clozapine may cause heart risks and diabetes

Clozapine is the most effectual drug for the treatment of psychotic depression. The researchers of the University of Rochester Medical Centre have concluded a study, which showed that clopazine, has some side effects. This may cause some long-standing health problems. J. Steven Lamberti, the author of the study, said that clozapine increased the risk of metabolic syndrome. The metabolic syndrome further increases the risk for heart disease, stroke and diabetes. The American Journal of Psychiatry has published the detail of the study.

Anger, depression, hostility and anxiety leads to heart diseases!

Negative traits like anger, depression, hostility and anxiety may higher up the chances of coronary heart disease, according to a new study by a team of researchers that included Edward Suarez, PhD, a Duke University associate professor of psychiatry. Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in US. Therefore, this disclosure is somewhat more important for the people in US. The most important thing that came to light through this study is that anger, anxiety, depression, and hostility each independently predict heart disease. However, just to blame all these traits would also not be right because some other factors like smoking, diabetes, obesity also play a key role in promoting heart diseases. But with this finding, once again it has become clear that our feelings, emotions and psychology plays an important role in keying up our health. So always, keep in mind, where the mind goes the body follows it.

Post-Traumatic Stress is linked to Heart Health!

If you find symptoms of post-traumatic stress, which include a tendency to startle at loud noises, nightmares and flashbacks then your chances of suffering from heart attacks and fatal coronary heart disease are quite higher. For the first time, a study has come out linking post-traumatic stress with heart health and coming out with such conclusion researchers tracked several people and found that a big percentage of people with post-traumatic stress symptoms developed heart diseases and among those diseases most prominent was fatal coronary disease. This study is quite significant because this is first study of its kind, which uncovers the link between heart health and post-traumatic stress. If we say that these symptoms provide us with an opportunity to take strong measures to prevent heart diseases then it would also not be wrong to say so. Moreover, now we can approach P.T.S.D. in a whole new way, paying more emphasis on psychological and other treatments required to dilute the effect of trauma or other events in patients.
