According to Amanda Geary, founder of UK based mental health charity, the food we eat may affect our mental health and can even cure depression, fatigue, insomnia, panic attacks, memory difficulties, etc.
During depression, coffee, tea and chocolates can be the best mood modifiers. As per experts, our eating influences the way we think, feel and behave due to the changes in brain chemicals.
According to Dr. Kanu Priya Khanna, Health nutritionist, Delhi Fortis Hospital various deficiencies such as deficiency in thymin, folic acid, vitamin B12 and fatty acids may lead to loneliness, depression and mood swing as well. As such thymin deficiency can be removed taking brown rice, whole wheat and red meat in diet.
Carbohydrate sensitive people are more prone to mood swings and weight gain as they get immediate high while eating anything sweet. Instead they can have fruit juice or candy.
Tips to overcome depression:
• Take breakfast enriched with cereals, vegetables and proteins.
• Take vitamin C in your diet like Ginseng, spirulina, wheat grass and barley grass.
• Take fish in your diet as it contains fatty acids called Omega 3.
• Fruits- banana, plums, squids, pineapples, escargots, milk helps building serotonin in brain.
