Depression may be linked to unnecessary thoughts that coils beyond control in older people. Late-onset depression first emerges at age 60 and causes poor executive functions. It leads further to poorer memory, bad thinking and reduced self-consciousness.



Bill von Hippel of the University of New South Wales and his colleague conducted a study on this. The journal Cognitive Therapy and Research has published the detail of the report.



The researchers found that executive decline was linked with musing among the people with late-onset depression. According to the researchers, more study is necessary to find whom the real culprit of excessive rumination causes is, the executive decline or if some other related process.
