A recent study found that the teens highly affected with depression are indulging in risky sex practices. Figures provided that near about 50 percent of depressed adolescent girls and 70 percent of boys found to be engaged in risky sex practices. According to Dr. Jocelyn A. Lehrer, mostly teens with emotional distresses and social isolation adapt sexual practices because of the pressure to get away from these psychological problems. Depressed adolescents are more sensitive to sexual pressures and desires making them to use drug or alcohol. Near about 15 to 20 percent teens get affected with depression at least once a shift. Due to their sexual involvement, they can be blamed for 50 percent new cases of sexually transmitted diseases like HIV, sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancy also.
