There are people who suffer from anxiety and depression symptoms in childhood. Many of them may have an increased tendency to use ecstasy later in life, according to a new study. The study has been published online by the BMJ.

Emotional health problems, such as depression, psychotic symptoms, and anxiety disorders are linked with the use of ecstasy. But, whether emotional problems are a consequence of using ecstasy, it is not yet clear. Whether emotional problems lead to ecstasy use is not also clear. Whether use of ecstasy is preceded by symptoms of behavioral and emotional problems in childhood and early adolescence, has been investigated by Netherlands researchers.
